Ollie's Angels, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was named in honor of Melissa's beautiful white lab. In his honor, Melissa and her team of dedicated volunteers continue to be the voice for all of Ollie’s special angels who suffer needlessly and cannot speak for themselves.
We are a 100% foster based rescue where all dogs are placed in loving homes until a forever family is found. We pull dogs from nearby surrounding high kill shelters and also obtain some of our dogs when their owners pass away or become ill and cannot take care of them any longer. We also take in strays when we have open foster homes.
Almost Home is comprised of many dedicated and compassionate volunteers with the common goal of rescuing and re-homing unwanted and abandoned animals from private homes and municipal shelters and placing them into loving and responsible homes.
Please help us in our mission to save as many wonderful pets as we can and find them their deserving furever homes. Your donations are tax deductible and 100% of your donation goes to support the animals. We are a completely volunteer based organization. There are no paid staff or board members.
We are a Home-based Rescue that is privately funded. We rely on adoption fees and donations from kindhearted and generous people. This is not a profit making venture. We do this because we love animals and we realize there is a great need for assistance for abandoned, neglected, abused and otherwise unwanted animals.
We receive our GSDs mostly from animal shelters, other rescue organizations, breeders, and individuals that for one reason or another cannot keep their dogs. According to the US Humane Society, every year between three to four million of these animals are euthanized because there are not enough homes for them. We could not save these animals without our fosters.
Our shepherds come from all across the country. Most of our dogs are pulled right from death row/Euthanasia Lists. Shelters are over crowded and unable to keep these dogs alive, at no fault of the dog. We are always in need of foster homes. The more fosters we have, the more dogs we can save.
After adopting Louie, Emily realized that there was an insurmountable number of shelter animals being put to sleep via gas chambers or euthanizing ... Louie could easily have been one of those dogs, and he became an incredible catalyst for Emily’s mission. Our mission is to find homes for as many animals as possible, and to expand our reach to help in even more areas – especially those that struggle with euthanizing rates.
